Essen. Evonik will complete the acquisition of US company J.M. Huber Corporation’s silica business for US$ 630 million, as planned, in the second half of the year. The transaction will be closed on September 1, 2017 after approval by the relevant authorities. Contributions from the new business will therefore be included in Evonik’s sales and earnings as of this date.

Evonik breaks ground for stretching and polishing plant for large-format PMMA aircraft materials
Weiterstadt, Germany. Evonik marked the start of construction of a new stretching and polishing plant at the Weiterstadt site with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 2. The Essen-based Group is investing a two-digit million euro amount in the plant. Thanks to systematic forward integration, Evonik’s Performance Materials Segment will then become a complete provider of cast and stretched polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) sheets for the aviation industry.
